Amy tells James Pollitt about the experience so far
James Pollitt sat down with Amy Ellison to hear from her what she has been up to throughout the residency.
At the start we went to the Whitworth. I liked it. We looked around and had a tour of some of the artists in the Outsider Art collection. I used a computer to find pictures from the gallery tour to put on index cards. I wrote all the artists names next to them.
We stuck all the artwork from the Whitworth on the wall so everyone could see them. I chose the favourite pictures and drew it on the iPad Pro. My favourite pictures were Judith Scott and Hipkiss. I used different brushes; big long brushes and small pencils. I used different colours, ones that looked nice to me. I changed the images and made them look new and different.
I have also been helping people. I like to chat to people and help people. I helped Fran with ideas of costumes. I helped James with making sure everyone is okay. I helped John take photos of his costume. I helped Joe to make music – I made patterns with cups and bowls, which made sounds like cats and dogs.
I think we’ve had a nice time. Exhibitions coming up soon - putting our work on the walls for our family and friends. I want to meet more people, do workshops and make things.
